Anna Elias & the Forlorn Hope
Anna
Elias was best known as the voice of indie-acoustic band Bodixa. Having recorded
several albums and cemented a great live reputation (culminating in playing the
Glastonbury festival in 2005) the band members went their separate ways and
since 2007 Anna has been developing an exciting new project: Anna Elias & the
Forlorn Hope.
The sound has been described as ‘chilled, organic, full and fragile’ with
acoustic roots. The music is eclectic in inspiration and draws upon the talents
of a variety of musicians and traditional instruments. The live line up can
include Cello, double bass and traditional whistle to accompany the core of
acoustic guitars and vocals. The new set-up is perfect for showcasing Anna’s
remarkable voice, which has been described as ‘captivating, haunting’ (UNCUT) &
‘delicate and enchanting’ (MOJO).
January 2007 sees the release of the first EP single – 'When You’re Gone'.
(UPM records) and the band will be recording the first album over the summer
(planned release late autumn 2008). Until then the band will be playing various
venues and festivals culminating in a headline tour to promote the album launch.
Jezz Hall
Born
in Cambridge, Jezz moved to Nottingham in the eighties and began playing guitar
in local bands. He realised that his voice lay in a solo acoustic approach, and
he developed his song writing at a grass roots level in local folk and acoustic
clubs.
Although foremost a songwriter, Jezz's live set includes traditional material
from Britain and America. He has supported many notable acts, including Phil
Beer, Pete Morton, Thea Gilmore, Jackie Leven, KT Tunstall, Mary Gauthier and
Idelwild. What perhaps marks him out as an exceptional songwriter is his vivid
lyricism' - Colin Irwin (Froots magazine). Jezz's latest album is When The
Music's Over, featuring 12 original songs.
10 o'clock Horses
Being
dubbed ‘the best thing to come out of Nottingham since Robin Hood’ the 10
o’clock Horses have become renowned for their high energy shows by throwing
themselves almost self - sacrificially into the heat of the event. This lot have
shared the boards with the
likes of Chumbawamba , Hayseed Dixie, members of Bad Manners, The Body Snatchers
and The Specials to name but a few. >website<
This year sees the horses taking their music back to its original roots by
playing an acoustic set, with the sounds of the djembe, bass guitar, violin,
mandolin, bouzouki, rhythm and lead acoustic guitars, saxophone and tin whistles
with male and female lead vocals. The horses present a high quality blend of
cultured genres – You simply have not lived until you have feasted your eyes and
ears on a live act like this... check this band out!
