Additional acts 2007.
The following quality acts will be appearing on the second stage, in local pubs and around the town throughout the weekend.
Gren Bartley
Gren
Bartley combines guitar wizardry with mature vocals, bringing a fresh
perspective to both traditional and contemporary folk. His unassuming and
delightful performance style belies a big talent, as seen in particular his
intricate style of finger-picking and song writing skills. Gren has built an
impressive gig diary in a relatively short space of time, including major
festivals, and repeat bookings at folk clubs, pubs and live music venues. His
Finger Picking guitar workshop has been described as "Brilliantly fresh", "A
phenomenal young guitarist and singer.... This chap is definitely going to set
the acoustic world alight". "It is amazing that Gren can carry basic necessities
such as blinking and breathing whilst finger-picking at such incomprehensible
speeds" >website<
Six Hands in Tempo
After
a gap of 19 years, Six Hands in Tempo have been persuaded by the festival
organisation to give it another shot. There are no plans to reform the band so
this is a unique opportunity to hear live their exhilarating blend of 20s and
30s songs and novelty numbers, played niftily on 3 guitars, together with 3 part
vocal arrangements and some silliness. Six Hands in Tempo performed extensively
from 1976 to 1988 around Folk Clubs and Festivals, travelled to Canada and
Europe and appeared many times on Radio 2. They made 3 albums, samples of which
are available on their website. Dave Proctor, Steve Bailey & Al Harris are all
still busy playing individually in a number of popular bands.

Loman
A
new band, Loman are expected to make it big this year, having already appeared
at several major festivals and as support to major acts. See Loman while there’s
still chance to get up close and personal! “Intelligent song writing of the
highest order. This acoustic three piece bring an intimacy to their music that
you feel privileged to share. New folk has never sounded so good”. “Their knack
for an unusual metaphor, spine-tingling harmony or heart breaking lyric won’t
let you go”. >website<
Rich Dytch
Originally
from Wolverhampton, now living in Newark, Rich is involved with music in various
forms but his main love is the acoustic guitar. Something of a musical mongrel,
he enjoys playing a range of material from baroque to ragtime and occasionally
some of his own material.
