Additional acts 2007 (continued).
Calm Down
Mansfield based quartet who have built a loyal following through their
interaction with live audiences and stimulating material. The line-up, headed by
Pete Thom on lead vocals, Tina Saunders on percussion, the excellent Ray Baguley
on lead guitar and Steve Saunders on bass deliver an engaging mixture of
original material and thoughtful re- workings of traditional songs with the odd
Dylan/Lindisfarne number thrown in. To see them live is to guarantee a good
time.
Tangata
Nottingham
based Tangata are a five piece band playing mostly original tunes with a couple
of traditional reels and songs thrown in for good measure. While the music is
based firmly in the European folk and roots traditions (mostly) there are
groundbreaking combinations which have instantly appealed to audiences - they
may have heard and liked these traditional styles, but never in these
combinations. The music ranges in style from rich jazz injected Celtic melodies,
spicy vocal harmonies, touches of flamenco through to Bulgarian frenzy and hefty
funk to get people on their feet! >website<
