The 2007 Performers (continued).
The Doonan Family Band
The
Doonan Family Band have for twenty-five years been the benchmark of
professionalism and charisma by which other traditional bands have been judged.
Their track record goes back beyond the days of the Folk Revival and includes
their contribution to such influential bands as Hedgehog Pie and Jack the Lad.
Mick Doonan (piccolo, flute, whistles, uilleann pipes, vocals) and brother Kevin
(fiddle and vocals) carry on the legacy passed down by their father John Doonan,
who sadly passed away in March 2002. With the driving rhythms of Phil Murray on
bass and Stu Luckley (half of Bob Fox and Stu Luckley) on guitar and vocals, the
DFB presents a unique and formidable sound.

ColvinQuarmby
ColvinQuarmby
are a four-piece band from the UK featuring the songwriting talents of Gerry
Colvin, a man who has rubbed shoulders with some of the finest. The live show is
spontaneous - often very lively and always amusing. To overstate the humour and
tongue-in-cheek delivery style though would be to ignore the strength of this
band and most importantly, Colvin's material. The songs are crafted with
incredibly evocative lyrics which can touch the soul in a most powerful way.
This power is the more enhanced due to the consistent performances of a great
band featuring Dave Dutfield on Guitars and Backing Vocals and Martin Fitzgibbon
on Drums and Backing Vocals. Founder member Nick Quarmby provides Bass, Acoustic
Guitar and Backing Vocals.

Johnny Dickinson
Johnny
Dickinson's music career got off to a dream start with his Northumbrian band
Splitcrow when Kerrang magazine said that their first album Rockstorm, which
reached no. 19 in the Gallup Rock Charts, was "the best album from a Brit band
in 10 years" with critic Xavier Russell stating that Johnny Dickinson was "the
most potent slide player in the UK". Unfortunately, like so many other bands,
they split up prematurely in 1986. After a spell playing pedal-steel with The
Moonshine Boys, in 1988 Johnny became a founder member of Paul Lamb and the
Kingsnakes. After giving his all to the Kingsnakes, John tread the boards as a solo
artist for a while until 1993, when the Hillbillies From Outer Space were born.
His touring plans now, are to work predominantly as a solo artist, but will, on
occasion, be joined by Fin McArdle on percussion and Neil Harland on Double
Bass. >website<
Vikki Clayton
Vikki
was about twelve when she begged her mother to buy her a guitar and she started
to accompany herself with early Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, and English folksongs and
struggled to learn finger picking. She loved playing the guitar from the start;
it has always been her first choice of accompaniment. She decided to study music
and performing, so undertook a Performing Arts degree at De Montfort University,
Leicester. After her degree she released two albums in quick succession; 'Honor
Tokened' and 'Lost Lady Found'. Now, after another seven albums of varying
styles she continues to sing folk songs, particularly the songs of Lincolnshire,
which are very dear to her heart.
