Original Steamchicken Jazz Band

Original Steamchicken Jazz Band

The Original Steamchicken Jazz Band (OSJB) are an offshoot of the infamous Steamchicken Ceilidh Band, led by the remarkable harmonica of Ted Crum. Ted has been a stalwart of the scene for over 30 years first with Somerville Gents and then Peeping Tom.

Originals Andrew Sharpe (keys) and Bill Pound (mandolin) have been gigging together regularly for 15 years. We are a bustling bluesy jazzy swinging band. We get into the swing with harmonica, saxes and mandolin swapping leads/improvising melodies, bass/piano and percussion keeping the rhythm tight and saxes and flutes blowing over the top.

Tunes range from Jelly Roll Morton to Playford to Lonnie Donegan and all points in between.
