On Friday night – the spectacular fire dance side Mr Fox will bring the night to a close with an amazing display masked as foxes and dancing while carrying flaming brands, the (obviously external) dance space lit by fire bowls
On Saturday , as has become the tradition, there will be a magnificent dance procession through the centre of Southwell 10.45 to launch proceedings. Thereafter the dance sides will be performing at various venues in the centre of the town from 11 – 15.30. There will also be a full programme of dance displays on the Festival Site Dance Stage.
A full timetable will be available in the Information Tent on arrival.
Sunday on the Festival Dance Stage there’s a dance workshop with The Witchmen at 10.30 followed by a dance display by children from local primary schools Lowes Wong and Leverton Primary and from 14,00 – 16.00 there will be a Dance Spectacular .
There are more displays in town at the Market Place, and the Final Whistle and Hearty Goodfellow pubx
Nottingham Tribal Belly Dancers – Anna Sollini and Beatrice Flowers will be dancing Americal Tribal Style Belly dance on Monday.
Monday sees a Longsword workshop on the Festival dance stage at 10.30 follwed by the Nottingham Tribal Belly Dancers. The Raving Maes and the Belly dancers will perfrom at the Bramley Apple from 12.30 – 14.00.
And in Marquee 2 on Monday afternoon there will be a thrilling Irish Dance display be Sciorr:Staged www.sciorr-staged.co.uk
There will also be a f ull lively ceilidh programme with GloryStrokes, Steamchicken and The QP. And on Sunday to precede the Americana afternoon there will be a Contra Dance with Vertical Expressions.
2011 Festival
Border Morris, North West Morris, Cotswold Morris, Longsword, Rapper Sword, Molly dancing – we saw them all at last year’s Festival around the town and on the open air DanceStage on the Festival Site
2011 Dance Procession through Southwell – Saturday morning 10.45 along King Street
Starting it all off – there was a wonderful Procession through the town at 10.45 on Saturday- followed by dancing in the town from 11am and from noon on the on the festival site.

We had Oyster Morris from Kent and Golden Star from Norwich dancing Cotswold Morris. Ouse Washes danced the Fenland Molly dances. The two sword dance sides Sallyport and Whip the Cat performed Rapper sword dancing from the North East of England. We also had the Northwest dancers Ripon City and Hoxon and the Border Morris side Poacher from Lincoln. Also from Lincoln werethe newly formed Bishops Morris with their Longsword dance. Of course we also had Nottinghamshire’s Rattlejag Morris with their own unique style based on traditions from our own local region. We also enjoyed Kick Start Appalachian dancers from Warwickshire.
